A professionally installed gas line provides a continuous fuel supply directly from your home's natural gas service, eliminating the need for propane tanks altogether. It also allows homeowners to enjoy their fire pit whenever they want without worrying about fuel levels or tank exchanges.
But what if your yard doesn't already have a fuel source available?
This is a question we hear from homeowners all the time.
For many homeowners, a propane-fueled fire pit is the quickest and simplest solution. Propane fire pits are relatively easy to install, require no permanent utility connections, and can be positioned almost anywhere in the yard.
However, convenience comes with a trade-off.
The biggest drawback of propane is the ongoing need to refill or replace propane tanks. Nothing interrupts a relaxing evening outdoors quite like discovering you've run out of fuel halfway through the night. For homeowners who use their fire pit frequently, managing propane tanks can quickly become an inconvenience.
For those looking for a long-term solution, installing a dedicated natural gas line is often the preferred choice.

That's exactly what one South Surrey homeowner recently chose to do.
The homeowners had recently invested in a beautiful new stamped concrete patio and wanted to complete the space with a fire pit as a focal point for entertaining and relaxation.
After considering both propane and natural gas options, they decided that a permanent natural gas connection would provide the convenience and reliability they were looking for.
We were brought in to design and install the gas supply system.
Our team installed a new 30-foot gas line extension directly from the home's gas meter and routed it to the patio area. To provide maximum flexibility, we also installed two separate gas connection posts. This allows the homeowners to rearrange their outdoor furniture and entertainment layout whenever they wish while maintaining convenient access to their gas-powered fire feature.
The result is a clean, permanent solution that blends seamlessly into the new patio design while providing dependable fuel year after year.
Both propane and natural gas fire pits have their advantages.
A propane fire pit may be ideal if you want maximum portability and a simple installation. However, if you're planning to use your fire pit regularly and want the convenience of an uninterrupted fuel supply, a permanent natural gas connection is often the better long-term investment.
Every property is different, and the best solution depends on your home's layout, existing gas service, and how you plan to use your outdoor space.
If you're considering adding a fire pit, outdoor fireplace, BBQ station, patio heater, or other gas-powered outdoor feature, we'd be happy to help you explore your options and design a solution that fits your needs.
